Little umbrella

“Little umbrella”

Handle length cm 27
Page stand      cm 16,5
Diameter          cm 32

France 1860
Little umbrella fan, composed by a rigid handle and by a stand for the page that could be kept I axle with the handle or it could be inclined to 90°. The satin page is painted with a concentric garland of pink roses and blue freesias and on the verse, with an equal flowery trim, it’s enriched by two lace applications (Leavers), one at the center and one external. The sculptured handle is of black lacquered wood, while the button closing the plisset and the final ring are in ivory. It’s very nice the presence of a concave mirror which allowed to observe the events occurring in the back. A similar fan is reported in “Seducendo con l'arte” (op. cit. p.176, n. 84).
